Sandra Jean Guy
August 11, 1947 – July 16, 2024
Sandy Guy of Winter Springs, FL passed away peacefully on July 16, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, FL & the first of three daughters to Billy & Hazel R. She was a loving, caring, devoted & selfless wife, mother, sister, aunt, grand-mother, great-grandmother & friend. She was the wife of Timothy Guy for 54 beautiful years. The mother of Kyna Guy (Denver, CO), Christopher Guy (Winter Springs, FL) & Brenda Baldwin (Shaun)(Buffalo, NY). Sister to Billie Bishop (Rock Hill, NC) & Deborah Chambers (Deceased). She had 5 beautiful grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Sandy was a full-time working mom for many years as an executive secretary for Citrus Central, Inc., but left to pursue her dreams of animal behavior and training in the mid 1980’s. She began BEST PAW FORWARD DOG TRAINING with her best-friend and business partner, PJ Lacette. Their unofficial motto is, “We train people to train their dogs correctly.” The business is still going and is located on 10 acres in Osteen, FL. Her biggest love in life after her family was dogs. She travelled around the country extensively for more than 30 years with friends and family to different dog shows, obedience trials and other events.
One of her proudest achievements was being one of the two founding members of the Golden Retriever Rescue of Mid-Florida in 1991. This organization has blossomed and grown over the last 33 years into an accredited 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that has saved 4,299 Golden Retrievers to date.
Sandy always gave more of herself to others than she ever did for herself. She was gracious, understanding, compassionate and forgiving (to a point). She always remembered the “little things” about people, and she made so many feel special. She was also known as “mom” to many LGBTQIA friends that became family over the last 30+ years and that was something of which she was immensely proud. She was a faithful Christian and learned that not everything you read or have been taught may be the full story or truth, but more that things should be interpreted in a better way. She had her beliefs but allowed her loved ones the grace to forge their own path. As things and the world around her changed, so did she.
We already miss her terribly and our lives will never be the same. All she ever wanted was the best for those that she loved, so we will try our best to continue to better ourselves and to make her proud.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 10:00 am – Newcomer Funeral Home - South Seminole Chapel, located at 335 East State Road 434 in Longwood, FL. One of her final wishes was that there be a celebration where family and friends could gather with their fur babies. That celebration of life will be held the same afternoon at Best Paw Forward Dog Training located at 1835 Oak Haven Plantation Rd, Osteen, FL 32764 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you contribute/donate to BEST PAW FORWARD DOG TRAINING. All proceeds will go directly to Best Paw Forward. Give in Sandy’s memory here:
