Sarah "Susan" Bourn Crawford went to be with her savior on September 8, 2022 at age 93. Susan was born to John B. and Hallie Meadows Bourn in Tague, West Virginia on January 28, 1929.
Susan was preceded in death by the love of her life, Cary Crawford, her parents, and 9 of 11 siblings.
Lovingly known as "Mama Sue" to many, she was a homemaker who was devoted to church and her family, including husband Cary, daughters Karen McCutchen and Jody Helms, and sons Freddie (Cathy), Benny (Michele) and Philip (Judy). Also mourning her loss are her two surviving brothers, John and David Bourn, 12 grandchildren (and their spouses), 18 great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. Susan and Cary spent the early years of their marriage in Sutton, WV and moved their family to Orlando, FL in 1957. Susan had countless friends whom she loved and loved her in return, many of whom are no longer with us.
Susan came of age during the Great Depression, and as a result, made economizing and DIY a lifestyle, long before "lifestyle DIY brands" were on trend. She took pride in her many talents, from cooking, sewing and crafting to reupholstering furniture and remodeling homes with her husband. Susan was a devout Christian and taught Sunday School for just over 43 years. Susan was a faithful member of Aloma Church.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held in her memory at Aloma Church, located at 1815 FL-436, Winter Park, FL 32792 on Thursday, September 15, 2022 starting at 10:30am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice in her honor.
Arrangements by Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (Winter Park Chapel).
