It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Scott Ghent, age 57, on July 28, 2024. Lovingly adopted by the late William and Mary Ghent as an infant, Scott was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend who touched many lives with his kindness and generosity.
Scott was married for 29 wonderful years to Christine (Lievertz) Ghent, who survives him, and together they raised a beautiful family. Daughters Meagan Anne Ghent and Frances Julia Ghent, and beloved dogs Lucy, Dawson and Summer were Scott’s greatest source of pride and joy. Christine’s family welcomed him in with open arms, and bestowed upon him a variety of nicknames born from family events, including Homer (D’oh!), Mario, and Chuck.
Scott leaves behind his brothers Stephen, Shawn (wife Bonnie), and Keith (wife Rebecca), and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who mourn his loss deeply, and who will forever remember the shenanigans they inflicted upon the great state of New York while residing on Wood Avenue in Staten Island.
Scott enjoyed a long and successful career in Facility Maintenance/Engineering, spending the last 17 years with Foundry Commercial, where he was known for his expertise, dedication, and strong work ethic. His colleagues remember him as a reliable and skilled professional who always went above and beyond. Remember, Safety First!
Outside of work and family, Scott enjoyed the thrill of auto racing, the creativity of woodworking, the camaraderie of poker games, and the art of cooking. His heart of gold and willingness to help anyone in need left a lasting impact on everyone he met. His kindness, generosity, and selflessness will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Who will the neighbors go to now for the most obscure tool or help?
A celebration of Scott's life will be held at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, located at 895 S. Goldenrod Rd., Orlando, FL 32822, on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. The visitation will take place from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a service from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, which will be livestreamed, link provided on this page. All are welcome to share stories about Scott during this service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that benefactions be made to
Lotsa Love Pet Rescue and Adoptions in Scott's name.
May he forever rest in peace.
