Shirland Malcolm Leader was born to Octavia Leader June 3, 1942 in San Juan, Trinidad. He later moved to the 5th Company community of South Trinidad with with his Uncle Donis. He attended school at St. Mary's Moruga Road and was an active member of the Indian Walk Seventh Day Adventist church. In 1967, he met and married the love of his life Glenda Baptise in Port of Spain Trinidad. In 1970, they made the decision to leave his home in the West Indies and migrate to Brooklyn, New York USA to seek new opportunities.
He later transitioned to a correction officer in Westchester County where he worked for 25 years uplifting inmates with love and honor to help them feel respected during their time served. Upon his retirement he relocated to Orlando, Florida where he comfortably resided traveling the world and enjoying his family until his passing. Shirland served his entire life with love and grace leaving an imprint of love in all he encountered. Along his beautiful journey he became "papa" and not only given all his children and great grandchildren love, he's given them life. Shirland is survived by his wife Glenda, preceded by son Nigel, Cherylann & Shirland JR "Woug" Leader, Grandchildren Raynece, Janelle, James, Jasmine, Zoe, Xavier, Willow & Abraham along with 6 great-grands.
