Shirley Elaine Hill McDonald was born on December 15, 1926 in Charleroi, PA to Sara Nutting Hill and Everett Hill. She was raised. In Charleroi and attended Charleroi High School. She graduated from McKinley Technical High School in Washington, DC. She also attended Washington Bible Institute and worked for the U.S. Navy during WWII while living there.
After the war she married Howard McDonald and they raised their family in Monongahela, PA while working as a patent law secretary for Consolidated Oil Company. She was very active in the PTA and her church youth and music programs.
In 1979 Shirley retired from Conoco and moved to Orlando. She began her second career as a patent law secretary for Allen, Dyer, Doppelt, Milbreath, and Gilbert. After her retirement she worked for the Orlando Rescue Mission and continued her Guardian ad Litem work.
She continued her education and got her Masters Degree in Christian Counseling at 75 years of age.
She was a member of Orlando Baptist Church and also attended a ladies prayer group at Northland Church in Longwood.
She is survived by Jan Bradburn of Longwood, FL, Marsha Lindsey (Lee) of Apopka, FL, Howard McDonald of Longwood, FL, and Elaine Bouck of Apopka, FL. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
