Spencer D. Ogborn

Spencer Dayton Ogborn, of Orlando, born April 25, 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on November 27, 2007. Spence was a member of New Life Orlando where he greeted everyone with a handshake and a big smile.

He is cherished and will be deeply missed by his wife Dolly of 34 years; son Kevin of Arizona; daughter Rosie and husband Nick Mastropietro of Mentor, Ohio and daughter Jo Carabotta of Orlando; grandchildren Ronee and Greg Stout, Leanne Mastropietro, Nicholas Mastropietro, all of Ohio and Carla Colley of Washington DC; brother-in-laws Anthony (Theresa) Lamento and Robert (Pam) Lamento and many nieces and nephews, all of the Cleveland area.

Spence was a United States Army veteran who proudly served in the Pacific and New Guinea in World War II. He was a retired plumber from Walt Disney World Company. His favorite hymn was I'll Fly Away.

In a story of his life, Spence shared that favorite memories were those during childhood visits to his grandparents' farm. He also shared how he didn't mind going on his sisters' dates because they paid him to go away. He counted himself lucky to have Dolly and thought it to be a treat to have Christmas and holidays with his grandchildren by his side.

The biggest change in Spence's life came when he became a Christian. He said, "That helped me an awful lot. I seem different, better". Spence's faith in the Lord and his humble prayers will never be forgotten. He reverenced our Lord and loved his family. He was real. He was honest. He feared God, and not man. His life, his legacy, is a demonstration of God's grace. He truly was a grand father to us all.
