It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our Father, Stanley Laverne Gonder, 80, on November 22, 2018.
He was the son of the late Henry and Olive Gonder of Cambridge, Canada, and was preceded in death by his wife, Anna John; his siblings Norman, Dorothy, Bill, Joan, Hank, Mary and Paul
Former husband of Marilyn. Loving Father to Susan (James), Lanette (Markus) and Richard. Stepfather to Toby (deceased), Robert (Stephanie), Philip (deceased) and Tonya (Ramon) Loving Grandfather to Tangela, Kristan, Lauren, Robert R, Talisa, Yasmin and Breanne.
Dad was born in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, but his family moved to Cambridge, Ontario shortly thereafter, where he was raised in Preston on Speedsville Rd. We will always remember, as a child, his "1" scary ghost story he made up of his walks home on Speedsville Rd from Maple Grove school, how he would get on a swing and purposely let loose change fall out of his pockets onto the ground for us to have, going to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and 101 Dalmations, Friday night trips to 7-11 for candy, riding along in the golf carts as he played golf, swinging around in circles in the front yard while holding his hands and early morning fishing trips.
Dad was an Auto Body Mechanic for over 40 years, employed at United Paint and Body in Orlando, FL. For as long as we can remember, our Father has enjoyed a mixture of golfing and fishing, spending time with Anna (Johnie) on the The Conway and Harris chains of lakes. He used to tell us he played golf with Arnold Palmer... hmm.
Our Father will forever be remembered as a Kind and Gentle Soul. A Man who truly enjoyed the simple things in life. He left us with the ability to enjoy life and to accept "the bumps in the road."
Rest In Peace, Sweet Father of Ours..
Susie and Nan
