Steven Joe Futo of Zellwood Florida, age 64, passed away on December 9, 2023 at Advent Memorial Hospital in Apopka.
Steven was born in Walden, New York on July 18, 1959 to the late Joe Steve Futo and Judith Turner Futo.
In 1977, Steven graduated Valley Central High School in Mongomery, New York, from there he enlisted into the U.S. Navy and proudly served for 2 terms
(8 years). After he got out, in 1985, he worked for the Orange County Sheriffs Department and was a volunteer firefighter for the Walden Fire Department.
He then moved to North Carolina and in August 2001, he worked in the Cary Fire and Rescue. Steven was also a member of the National Firefighters Association Honor Guard.
He is survived by his beloved wife Teresa Leonard Futo of Zellwood, two step-daughters, Ashley Laree Cassell O'Dell (Johnny O'Dell) of Wytheville, Virginia, and Kelsey Brianne Carpenter of Charlotte NC; two granddaughters Kinleigh Laree O'Dell and Joslyn Macrae O'Dell of Wytheville; His mother Judith Turner Futo of Sherrills Ford NC, father-in-law Walter Frank Leonard and wife Mary Martin Leonard of Wytheville, VA; Two daughters, Shannan Marie Futo of New York and Samantha Futo of Apex, NC, one son, Benjamin Futo of Apex, NC; A brother Christopher Barry Futo of Loveland, CO, and a sister Judith Futo Stogner (Jerry Lee Stogner, Sr). of Sherrills Ford, NC; 7 nephews, 3 nieces, and 14 cousins.
Steven was preceded in death by his father Joe Steve Futo of Walden, New York, a sister Pamela Nadine Valente of Yonkers, New York, his brother Joseph John Futo of Wurtsboro, New York, his paternal grandparents, Joseph John Futo and Helen Subasa Futo of Akron, OH, his maternal grandparents, Benjamin Earl Turner and Mabel Wels Turner of Wallkill, New York, and his mother-in-law Nancy Carol Leonard of Wytheville, VA.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
