Steven Mark Guillemette was born in Waterville, Maine on February 10,1950. However, he spent most of his childhood in Plainfield, Connecticut, romping through the deep woods with his beloved brothers.
In 1969, Steve joined the Army. He served as a lineman and radio operator. During this time, he was awarded several medals, including The Bronze (Star) Medal for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces in the Republic of Vietnam for breaking cover to rescue an injured man. Although he never spoke of this, he would say that serving his country had been an honor. He felt that many people didn't realize the high price of freedom, but he did.
After completing his tour of duty, Steve moved to Altamonte Springs, FL. He soon met his wife-to-be Gail while attending his brother's wedding at Community United Methodist Church. They married in 1973 and, a year later, started a family. Over the years, they raised two loving daughters, Shannon Guillemette Ledford and Rachel Guillemette Morasch, and welcomed four lively grandchildren, Tucker, Austin, Darby, and Ashton.
Devoted husband, father, and provider, Steve had worked in construction, antique restoration, and jukebox reproduction, before settling into a position with Sherwin Williams, where he would remain for 17 years until retiring. Afterwards, he was free to spend more time with his family; and he was free to pursue his many passions: stain-glass art, wood-turning, historical literature, landscape design, and beach-combing.
Throughout his life, Steve was an inspiration. He offered help without expectation; he met adversity with quiet determination, acceptance, and humor. He opened and closed his days, grateful for God's grace.
Buoyed by his faith and surrounded by love, Steve passed to the Lord with peace in his heart and a legacy to follow.
