Sudye Louise Collins (Landrum) (our beloved Mimi), 82, died at her home on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 4:55 am. Sudye was born in Jacksonville, FL, to the late Thomas and Ora Landrum.
Sudye graduated from Scott High School Community Hub in 1956. After graduating high school, she owned and operated a florist company and then worked for a Florida power company. She then started work in real estate for various Florida law firms. She married Johnny Lamar Collins on November 1, 1966, in Orlando, FL., at College Park United Methodist Church. Sudye and her husband Lamar owned and operated a Shell gas station in Orlando, FL, for many years. Sudye eventually settled into her passion for real estate, starting work for First American Title Insurance in Florida. She worked for First American Title until her retirement in March 2005.
Known to her family as "Mimi," she deeply loved spending time with her family and beloved husband, Lamar. She and Lamar loved to have family visit at their Lakehouse in Georgetown, GA. Sudye loved sitting on the Lakehouse front porch to watch the hummingbirds come and eat at the many feeders she had for them. She loved watching figure skating and dancing with her family, especially during the Winter Olympics. An accomplished dancer, she dreamed of becoming a New York City Rockette, but she wasn't tall enough. Yes, she had short-girl issues all her life! She was also an avid sports fan, curling up on the couch on a Sunday afternoon to watch whatever NFL football games were playing that day. Sudye will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include daughters Staci (Robert) Moore, Dothan, AL. and Lori (Darryl) Harding, Lake Mary, FL; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Lamar, sister Barbara Anderson, brother Thomas Landrum, parents, grandparents, son Cory, and daughter Kellie.
The family will hold a private Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the home of Lori and Darryl Harding.
