On Thursday, January 3, 2019, Susan Dorothy Emanuel passed away at the age of 56.
She is survived by her mother, Doris E. Emanuel, and aunts, uncles and cousins both here and in England. She also leaves behind many dear friends that cherished her.
Susan was born on January 27, 1962 in London, England to Victor and Doris (maiden name) Emanuel. She is a graduate of Wichita High School North West, Wichita, KS, and received her B.A. from Valparaiso University, where she studied graphic design. Susan spent 34 years working as a graphic designer, beginning her career in Chicago, IL and most recently worked for Enterprise Florida in Orlando, FL.
Whether working on a pocket-sized brochure or an oversized graphic for a tradeshow booth, Susan's work always drew attention. In particular, her creative and unique event invitations brought regular praise from those who received them. Her work is proudly displayed on desks and walls across the country.
Susan's love for graphic design, both pen and ink and computer-generated, was just one of her many artistic passions. She was gifted in many fiber arts, including quilting, sewing, counted cross-stitch, both hand and machine embroidery, and was equally skilled in paper crafts. She was known for her beautiful workmanship and attention to detail. She gladly shared her time and talents with her friends and family and her hand-made Christmas cards were treasured by many. Susan loved traveling with family and friends, and she held a special place in her heart for her hand bell choir and her church.
Susan was kind and loving, with a quick wit and a friendly smile. Although she was quiet in demeanor, Susan's laughter was big and contagious. Those who were in the room when she had a fit of laughter often ended up with tears of joy in their eyes.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 2140 W State Road 434, Longwood, FL 32779. There will be a reception following the service.
