Passed away May 30, 2023, at Florida Hospital in Altamonte Springs Florida.
She was born Suzan K Alfei on December 28, 1947, in Buffalo New York. She was the second of five children born to Mathias and Wanda Alfei. She grew up in Grosse Pointe Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. In 1972 she married Donald M. Halkowych and in 1973 they started a relocation journey that took them to Kissimmee, Florida, Orlando, Florida and eventually Apopka, Florida.
Suzan attended Macomb College in Warren, Michigan and later in Orlando, Florida obtained her Novell Administration Certification. She worked for Travelers Insurance Company, Beverly Enterprises and in 2003 she attained her Assisted Living Administration License and ran Laurel Springs of Mount Dora, an assisted living facility in Mount Dora, Florida. She went to work for Adventist Care Centers in 2007 and retired from there in 2015.
Suzan is survived by her husband Donald M. Halkowych, sister Sheryl Alfei, brother Scott Alfei, and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family. She was a loving and caring person and always put the needs and wants of others in front of her own. She touched the lives of so many people and her legacy will live on through the memories she created. A celebration of life for Suzan Kay is being planned for a future date.
