Mrs. Thelma Jean Brown, age 83, passed away on Monday June 22, 2015, in Altamonte Springs, Florida, due to complications of a long illness. Thelma was born on April 26, 1932, in Bedford, Kentucky. She was a long time resident of Longwood, Florida. She was the daughter of Grace and Noble Rowlett, who have preceded her in death. She has 2 surviving sisters, Margaret Wright of Atlanta, Georgia, and Nancy Urso of Louisville, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be on Saturday June 27, 2015, at 11:00 AM at the Newcomer Funeral Home at 335 East State Road 434 in Longwood, Florida. Viewing will be at 10:00 AM prior to funeral services. Interment will take place at the Longwood Memorial Gardens, Longwood, Florida. Following the short services at the graveside, a reception will take place at the First Baptist Church in Longwood, Florida, at 891 East State Road 434 in Longwood, Florida.
Thelma is remembered for her selfless, kind, gentle and loving nature. She always thought of others first, serving her church, family and friends before herself. She was a gifted seamstress. She was primarily a homemaker but worked for a decade as hostess at the Holiday House Restaurant on Lee Road in Winter Park, Florida. That is where she met her husband, Mr. Donald Brown, of Longwood, Florida. Donald preceded Thelma in death on New Year's Eve in 2014. He was her constant and loving companion, visiting her daily in the care facility where she resided the last several years of her life.
Thelma was the mother of and survived by 4 sons. Michael and his wife, Tommie Maddox, live in Sacramento, California, Larry Maddox resides in Loxahatchee, Florida, Douglass and his wife, Gina Maddox reside in Jupiter, Florida and Jeffrey Maddox resides in DeBary, Florida. She is also survived by Donald's sons, Alan and his wife, Donna Brown of Longwood, David and his wife, Vicki Brown of DeBary and Jody and his wife, Pamela Brown of DeBary, as well as daughter Julie and her husband, David Myers of Sanford. Grandchildren include Lindsey Lentz, Joy Maddox, Livia Bonet, Nathan Maddox, Christina Schroeder, Andrew Maddox, Juliana Maddox, Nina Maddox, Amy Hemmerly, Jennifer Brauksieker, Brittney Myers, Lauren Titcomb, Dana Brown & Shelby Brown. Great grandchildren include Brenden Hanner Maddox, Lauren Hanner Maddox, Eliah Bonet, Iliana Bonet, Taylor Lentz, Piper Lentz, Jackson Alan Braucksieker, Aubrey Lee Braucksieker and Gavin Arthur Titcomb.
Among the other important people in her life, she shared a special relationship with her sister-in-law and friend, Gayle Brown and brother-in-law, Doyle Brown. We would like to express our gratitude to the devoted personnel at the Life Care Center of Altamonte Springs, Florida, for their compassion and kindness to our mother during the years she spent in their care.
