Col. Thomas A. Horner, USA, Retired, 78 of Orlando, FL, died March 11, 2017 in Orlando, FL. A native of Oakland CA, Col. Horner enlisted in the the United States Army National Guard in 1954, entered Active Duty in 1956, and was later commissioned in 1959. Col. Horner retired in 1987 after having served more than 30 years, including two tours in Vietnam.
Col Horner graduated from the University of Nevada in Reno, NV in 1970 with a bachelor's degree in business administration and management, followed by a master's degree in business administration (MBA) from Northwest Missouri State University in 1974.
Following his military career, he owned Semoran Scuba and then Florida Tanning with wife Jackie.
Col. Horner is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Dorothy.
He is survived by his wife Jackie of Orlando, FL; sons Lt Col Todd Miller, USAF (Ret.) and wife MaryLou of Goodlettsville, TN; Jeff Miller, wife Wanda, daughters, Ashley, Amanda and Alissa of Haymarket, VA; Lt Col Mark Horner, USAF, (Ret.) and wife Elizabeth of Schertz, TX; Sgt. Scott Horner, USA, of Hinesville, GA; and daughters Kathleen Greco, husband Dennis and son Phillip of Columbus, OH; and Stephanie Waddle, husband Thomas and son Zackary, daughters Lacey and Kylee.
A viewing will be held Wednesday evening, March 15, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm with a funeral service Thursday at 11 am, both at Newcomer Funeral Home in Orlando, FL. Following a funeral procession from Newcomer in Orlando, FL, burial will be at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
