Thomas Joseph Madden, age 80, passed away on February 12, 2015 at his home in Belle Isle, Florida. Born in Waterbury, Connecticut on March 30, 1934, he was the son of Kathleen Clancy Madden and Francis Raymond Madden. He received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees of Education from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, and his Doctorate Degree of Education from Loyola University, Chicago, Illinois. Tom taught high school English and History. He retired in 1992 from the Miami-Dade County Public School System after teaching for 36 years. After retiring from teaching, Tom pursued his love of travel and became a travel agent. He and his wife spent many happy years traveling the world. He was an active member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, Orange County CTA-Retired and AARP, Pine Castle Chapter.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Joyce Caldwell Madden and their two children Suzanne Madden Dawson and David John Madden; two grandchildren, Nicole Joyce Dawson and Andrew Thomas Dawson; and two nephews, Gregory Madden and James Madden. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Frank Madden; and granddaughter, Christine Dawson.
Visitation is Monday, February 16, 2015 from 12 pm to 1 pm with funeral service starting at 1 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (East Orlando Chapel). Interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park, Winter Park, Florida.
