Thomas Lee May, age 72, of Orlando, Florida passed away surrounded by loved ones on Monday, September 30, 2019 at the VA medical center in Lake Nona from complications of COPD & CHF.

Thomas was born on March 16, 1947 in Freeport, IL; son of the late Robert Eugene and Genevieve Clara (Schadle) May. He graduated from Aquin High School and Highland Community College in Freeport, Illinois. He honorably served his country as a member of the United States Navy from 1967 to 1969. On March 11, 1982, he married Young (Maria) Oh. Thomas worked as a mechanical engineer for Lockheed Martin before his retirement. He was an avid sportsman and sports fan; he enjoyed fishing and watching whatever sport was in season.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Young; his daughter, Sonya Silva and her husband, Michael, of Orlando; his three sons, Sean Johnson and his wife, Meredith, of Jacksonville, Scott Johnson and his partner, Carrie Wilson, of Winter Garden, and Robert May and his wife, Amanda, of Orlando; ten grandchildren, Kayla Zilinski and her husband, Joseph, Emily Silva, Jacob Silva, Anna Silva, Charles Johnson, Audrey Johnson, Jack Johnson, Ava Johnson, Ellie May, and Thomas R. May; and his sister, Linda Ganshert of Sartell, MN.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother-in-law, Steve Ganshert of Sartell, MN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 7:00 pm at St. Ignatius Kim Catholic Mission, 1518 E Muriel St, Orlando, Florida 32806.

A reception will follow after mass.

Visitation with the family will precede the service from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the church.

Interment with full military honors will be on Monday, October 7, 2019 at 11:00 am at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, FL.
