Verna Patricia Satahoo , 70, of Winter Park, FL, peacefully passed away January 26th, to join her Father, our Lord in Heaven.
She was born to the late Norman and Susan Cheevers, November 22, 1951, in Mandeville, Jamaica. Verna graduated from Manchester High School and Duffs Business School and was an accomplished secretary and paralegal.
She married Derrick Satahoo on December 15, 1979, and they lived together in Jamaica for 21 years before relocating to England and then to Florida. Verna left behind her three children: Stephen Satahoo of Melbourne FL, Patra Torpin (Satahoo) of Gothenburg, Sweden and Bradley Satahoo of London, England. She also left behind five grandchildren, three sisters, Vivienne, Doreen and Lorna and one half-brother Trevor. Verna was predeceased by her loving brother Delroy Cheevers and half-brother Clifton Cheevers.
Verna radiated such warmth and humility towards everyone she met leaving a lasting impression. She was a fashionable lady; a devoted mother and grandmother and her family was always a priority. Her kindness and self-lessness filtered through to every part of her life, even to those in need. Verna also had an adventurous side, a real zest to live life to the fullest that was felt through her humor and beautiful smile. Though she had many interests and talents, some of her favorite's were reading, sewing, cooking and singing. She had a wonderful voice! Verna was an avid churchgoer- and truly loved the Lord. Her faith meant everything to her and even though we miss her we know she is finally home!
Viewing ceremony will be held on Thursday, Feb 3, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Boatwright Center at the Aloma Church. The going home ceremony will take place immediately after at11:00 a.m
Verna had an early on set of Alzheimer's disease and lived with this illness for over 10 years. In memory of her the family asks that people make donations in support of Alzheimer's research, in lieu of sending flowers.
