Vernon B. Hanwell Iii

May 28, 1939 — December 14, 2023

"Bert" as he was known by all who knew him was born on May 28, 1939, in Miami FL but grew up in Jacksonville FL. Early in his adult years, he served in the Air Force. He had many fond memories he has shared with stories with his siblings and cousin growing up, many of them are funny stories of their shenanigans. He loved them dearly as he did his wife Camille who was the love of his life.

He was a devoted husband and family man leaving behind two children Keith Hanwell and Jackie Schaeffer. He loved his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren and made it a point to be there for anyone who needed prayer, he was a True Prayer Warrior with strong faith. He dedicated his life to the Lord in 1975. Camille taught Sunday School and Bert drove the bus for the Bus Ministry at First Baptist Winter Park FL where Jackie often accompanied him to help teach the kids the Sunday School songs even though Bert teased her of her singing abilities or lack thereof.

He was a Car salesman when he met Camille and his sense of humor and gift of gab made him a natural. He later retired from Chrysler Corporation.
For many years he and Camille led a small Bible group in their home in Orlando and later after Camille lost her battle with cancer Bert was there for her every minute taking care of her he continued to carry the torch as he led a men's Bible group in his home after moving to Mount Dora FL.

Bert loved country, bluegrass & gospel music including Elvis Presley & Hank Williams, and would often listen to his albums in his living room with Jackie or Keith often by his side. Even during his struggle with Dementia, he would often ask them to watch his favorite Alan Jackson DVD with him, still sharing his love of music and the Lord.

Towards the end, he referred to Keith as his best friend. He was close to all his grandchildren and they were a special part of his and Camille's life as were his great grandchildren.
He left this earth on December 14, 2023, with his children Keith and Jackie by his side.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle & friend. But most of all, A devoted servant of the Lord and his family is comforted by knowing that he will spend Eternity with the Lord and we will be reunited for all eternity when we join him.

He is survived by his daughter, Jacquelyn Camille (Keith) Schaeffer; son, Vernon Keith Hanwell; two sisters, Adele Otis, Elizabeth(Tom) Haire; three brothers, Wayne Chason, Mike Oschner, Leigh Hanwell; two grandsons, Brian (Stephanie) Bentley Jr., Justin Brown; granddaughter, Lindsey (Shawn) Rogers; two great-granddaughters, Jolene Bentley, June Bentley and two great-grandsons, Riley Pace, Layth Stitou.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Camille Hanwell, father, Vernon B. Hanwell, mother, Levada Lucille Hanwell, Jr. and grandson, Jon Brown.
