Surrounded with unyielding love and with family at his side, Vicente "Vinny" Francés, age 77, was peacefully called home to heaven on October 20, 2021, to live eternally among the angels.
Vinny was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, raised in the Bronx, New York, and later moved to Orlando, Florida, where he lived for over 50 years. He was a Vietnam era Veteran of the United States Air Force, and a retired Orange County Property Appraiser of over 20 years.
Vinny was an amazing, deeply devoted, fiercely protective, and unconditionally loving and supportive father and husband; a wonderfully kind, humble, and selfless human being, with the greatest sense of humor, who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He adored his life and his family, and loved helping people in any way he could. He enjoyed music of all kinds, dancing, travel, and food, and was an avid sports fan. There wasn't an athlete, team, or sport that he couldn't watch or discuss at length - his absolute favorites being the New York Mets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, UCF Knights, FSU Seminoles, and Orlando City SC.
Vinny also cherished his faith. He was an extremely active and devoted member of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church here in Orlando for over 30 years, and gave generously of his time whenever needed. He served the church as a member of various committees over the years, was a Minister of the Eucharist, and an honored and respected 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, where he served as Treasurer.
He is survived by his beloved wife Nilda, son, Dennis, and daughter, Shari; his brother, Cruz Manuel Francés, and sister, Lilliam Ferguson. He is preceded in death by his father, Diosdado Francés, mother, Julia Osorio, sister, Mary Francés, and brothers, Diosdado "Dee" Francés Jr. and Juan "Johnny" Francés. He also leaves behind countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family members, as well as many many friends and colleagues. Vinny's passing has left a chasm in the hearts of all who knew and loved him, and he will be tremendously missed.
A Funeral Mass honoring Vicente's life will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church at 11:00 am. Interment of cremains will follow at Queen of Angels Cemetery, Winter Park at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Vicente's name to The American Cancer Society, at https://donate3.cancer.org
