Victoria Bettendorf, 79, of Orlando, passed away on November 7, 2023 at her home surrounded in love by her wife, Phyllis.
She was born on October 5, 1944 to Louis and Edith (Graham) Bettendorf in Cleveland, OH.
Victoria worked as a teacher for Berea City Schools for 30 years and when she moved to Florida continued shaping young minds at Osceola County Public Schools for another 14 years.
She married Phyllis Lynn Horstemeyer in a public ceremony, celebrated in the newspaper and all around town. Victoria and Phyllis lived in Orlando, Florida.
She loved going on cruises, reading, and doting on her dogs: Barney, Hadji, and Cleo. She loved her students and her natural environment was being a creative and outstanding teacher finding joy in being in her classroom. She was a proud member of the BFT, Berea Federation of Teachers and the AFT, the American Federation of Teachers. She was a parishioner at Fairview Grace United Methodist Church in Fairview Park, OH.
Victoria is survived by her loving spouse, Phyllis, her daughter Linda Cornwell, her 2 grandchildren, her brother Edward (Marta) Bettendorf, her sister Virginia Corder, her sister-in-law Mary Bettendorf-Kelley, her nieces and nephews and many other family members, friends and students, whom she considered her children.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Louis John Bettendorf, and Edith (Graham) Bettendorf, her younger brother Raymond Bettendorf, and her brother-in-law Jack Corder.
A Celebration of Vickie's life will take place on Wednesday November 15th at 3:00pm at the Watervista Community Center, 5257 Watervista Dr, Orlando, FL 32822.
