Vidula Dave

April 1, 1941 — November 29, 2015

Vidula Rawal Dave
Vidula Rawal Dave, of Winter Park, Florida, passed away on November 29, 2015. She was born on April 1, 1941 in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. She is survived by her brothers, Rajnikant Rawal of India, Jayant Rawal of Spain, Shreeyesh Rawal of Hawaii, her nephews, Krishna Rawal of Spain and Brijesh Rawal of India. Vidula was preceded in death by her parents, Jethalal and Sarasvati Rawal, and her son, Yatin Dave, as well as her younger sister Geeta. She was simply called "Viduben" by her siblings and many others who knew and loved her. She was a devout Hindu and strict vegetarian. She was a devotee of Shree Ramji.

Viduben has been a resident of Winter Park and Casselberry for over thirty years. She was a psychologist by profession, earning Masters degrees at the Florida Institute of Technology and Rollins College. She worked for many years for the Orange County Sheriff's office and State of Florida, helping to heal the minds and moods of children in the juvenile system as well as some of the adults in their lives. Viduben served as the President of the Indian Association of Orlando in the 1980s. Before settling in Florida, she lived and worked in other countries with her then husband, an orthopedic surgeon, as she supported the family while he sought and gained admission to the UK's Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons. During their time in London Viduben also worked for the prestigious Indian journalist Dr. Sundar Kabadi. Their journey took them to Nairobi, Bombay, London, Winnipeg, and Kansas City.

Viduben had a heart of gold, always finding laughter and joy in the little moments of life. She endured some of life's most heartbreaking moments, yet always showed enormous strength of spirit, a ready smile and a great sense of humor. She was a kind, caring person who always had encouraging words that made you feel better. She grieved the sudden loss of her only child, her adult son while she lovingly and dutifully cared for her ailing mother. She was a woman of great courage and moral fiber. Her goal in life was to try her very best "to be a decent human being". Her family and her family of friends were privileged to know her. Viduben will be remembered lovingly, inspiringly, and as a ray of sunshine in the many lives she touched.
