Col. Wallace D. Worman (USAF Ret.)
Wallace (Wally) Worman, age 87, of Casselberry, Florida passed away unexpectedly on October 22, 2017.
A funeral service will be held at Aloma United Methodist Church in Winter Park, Florida on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends at a visitation to be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, South Seminole Chapel, Longwood, Florida on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
Wally was born in Denver, Colorado to John and Jennie Worman on July 8, 1930. He graduated from Boulder High School and attended the University of Colorado for two years before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1951. After receiving his comission in 1952, Wally was a B-47 and B-58 pilot with the Strategic Air Command. He later served in various key Intelligence roles, including positions with the Defense Intelligence Agency at the Pentagon. Wally served during the Korean War and the Vietnam War and his military decorations include the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star. He loved telling stories of his military career and the fine people with whom he served. He especially enjoyed keeping in touch with his military friends across the country and attending B-58 Hustler Association reunions.
Wally was a beloved usher and member of Aloma United Methodist Church. His church family has provided him with loving support and fellowship for many years.
Wally is preceded in death by his dear wife of 50 years, Alice Peel Worman. Alice, an Orlando native and Rollins graduate, met Wally while he was stationed as a B-47 pilot in the Orlando area. They were married in Knowles Memorial Chapel at Rollins February 13, 1955. They traveled throughout the U.S. and overseas during Wally's 28-year military career, returning to the Orlando area when Wally retired in 1979.
Wally is survived by his daughter, Donna Dehrkoop; son-in-law, Terry Dehrkoop; grandson, David Dehrkoop, whom Wally referred to as "favorite grandson", and granddaughter, Stephanie Dehrkoop, whom he referred to as "favorite granddaughter." He enjoyed making trips to the Pacific Northwest to visit his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Red Cross Disaster Relief or favorite charity. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the Aloma United Methodist Church family, Howell Cove neighbors and all of Wally's dear friends both near and far that have supported them through this tragic time.
