Warren L. Pike

August 18, 1926 — August 17, 2015

Warren Lee Pike was born on August 18, 1926 in Pontiac, Michigan to Seer and Bernice Pike. Warren had five brothers: Wally, Don, Ray, Bill and Arthur. As a boy, Warren had a tender heart and gave his life to the Lord at a young age. He was often found helping his mom around the house and in his teenage years he also helped his father in the family's business.

After graduating high school, he attended Spring Arbor College, Spring Arbor, MI, where he met his first wife, Marion Cutler. He was very active in ministerial studies and was a member of a traveling male quartet.

He enlisted in the Navy in WW2 and was stationed in Fort Pierce, Florida. During his time in the Navy, Marion passed away after a battle with leukemia. In 1947 Warren married Betty Morris and a year later a baby boy, Lawrence Lee, was born. In 1953 Warren and Betty divorced.

In 1955, Warren married Donna Campbell Slyter and adopted her two small daughters, Dixie Ann and Diane Lee. They were married in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and then resided with Warren's parents in Spring Arbor for a brief time prior to moving to Lubbock, Texas. In 1957 the family transitioned to Seattle, Washington, where Warren was employed by the Boeing Aircraft Corporation. During his time in Seattle, he and his wife, Donna, were blessed with another daughter, Deena Linn. While in Seattle he enjoyed taking the family camping in the mountains and going to the beach. Because of opportunities for advancement as a technical writer in the aerospace industry, the family moved on to Minnesota, Michigan, and then in 1967 to the state of Florida where he continued his career at Martin-Marietta in Orlando, Florida. Warren and Donna prayed that all their children and their families would live close to them in Orlando, and God answered their prayers.

While living in Orlando, Warren and Donna were members of Orlando Christian Center where he served as a member of the OCC choir. He had a heart for the Lord and was always looking for opportunities to serve. It was in Orlando that he obtained his private pilot's license and enjoyed taking the children and grandchildren for plane rides. Warren and Donna lived for their family and often enjoyed vacations in the Smoky Mountains camping and hiking.

After retiring from Martin-Marietta he kept active working around the home and helping Donna with her gardening projects. When Donna went to be with the Lord in 2001, Warren went to live with his daughter, Dixie, and her husband Frank in Deltona after receiving a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease. In 2014 he went to live at Eastbrooke Gardens in Casselberry, an assisted living facility for higher-functioning Alzheimer's patients. All of his children enjoyed visiting Warren and took him on day outings as often as they could. The staff at Eastbrooke Gardens loved Warren's smile and his sweet attitude towards everyone. He was one of their favorites, a true gentle man.

On Monday, August 17th, one day prior to his 89th birthday, God called this gentle man to his eternal home to heaven. His passing was peaceful and he is now celebrating with Jesus and hearing "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Warren once said that his life was complete in knowing that all his children and grandchildren were serving the Lord. He often quoted one of his favorite scriptures from Third John, verse 4: "I have no greater joy than to know that my children walk in truth."
