Wesley Leopold Samuels was born at Blue Mountain, Manchester, Jamaica, on July 20, 1931 to the late Marion Ashman and Adrian Samuels.
He received his education at Cross Keys Parochial, Manchester, Kingston Senior School, and Kingston Technical College, Kingston, Jamaica.
Upon leaving school, he was employed in the Sales Department of Radio Jamaica and Rediffusion. He later became a seaman and joined his first ship The Bahama Star. He went to work with various cruise lines; Premier Cruise Lines, Star Clipper Lines, and Norwegian Caribbean Lines where he was Chief Steward. After retiring from the cruise lines, he worked for The Miami Herald and for a brief period at the Hotel Marriott in Lake Mary, Florida.
His wife Daphne Samuels predeceased him, and he leaves to cherish his memories Children: Michael (New York), Rae, (St Elizabeth, Jamaica), Stanford, (Miramar, Florida) and O'Neil, (Orlando, Florida); Grandchildren and Great grandchildren, Sister: Doreen Campbell, Brother-in-law: Curtis Campbell, a niece and a nephew, Aunts: Veta Bailey, Blossom Lloyd, Uncles: Herbert Ashman, Matthew Ashman, and Cousins (most of whom called him Uncle Wesley or Primo), and a host of cherished relatives and friends.
