Wilford Fraser
June 17, 1920 - May 2, 2016
Raised on a family farm in Manitoba, Canada, Wilford Fraser studied geology at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. After serving in Europe during World War II with the Canadian Armed Forces, he took a job as a petroleum field geologist in Peru, where he met and married Ruth Fraser. His career took him to Colombia, Iran, Libya, Indonesia, and Australia. He enjoyed exploring cultures and places, ancient and modern, and traveled to all parts of the world.
He retired to Orlando, Florida, in 1981, where he was an avid golfer and served as president of the Exxon retirees club for several years. To celebrate his 90th birthday, he published Manitoba Memories, documenting the dramatic changes that took place during his lifetime, from plowing with horses on the farm to a world of fuel-efficient cars, cell phones, and the internet.
He is survived by his daughter, Martha Maeda of Orlando and a son, Doug Fraser of Perth, Australia. To leave a condolence message for the family online, please click on the "Share Memories" button above.
