William Leslie Burgess, Jr., age 87, of Orlando, Florida passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at his home in Orlando. He was the widower of the late Judith Demler Burgess, to whom he was married until her death in 2006.
William was born on January 7, 1933 in Buffalo, NY, son of the late William Sr. and Alene (Doyle) Burgess. From 1953 until 1956, he honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
William is survived by his two children, his daughter, Jill Garza-Darden and her companion, Keith Bevington, of Orange City, and his son, Robert Burgess; four grandchildren, Hannah Garza, Madyson Darden, Stephanie Burgess, and Samantha Burgess; a great-grandchild, Colton Palmer; two sisters, Barbara Hough of Buffalo, NY, and Carol Diehl and her husband, Ed, of Pennsylvania; and his best friend and loving caregiver, Theresa Pettis-Cruse.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Judith.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home - East Orlando Chapel, 895 S. Goldenrod Rd, Orlando with Chaplain Mike Caroline officiating.
Inurnment will be at a later date at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, FL.
