William H. Buell, age 71, of Orange City, passed away August 1, 2015
Memorial services at the Casselberry Community Methodist Church Chapel at 4921 S US Hwy 17-92 Casselberry FL on Aug 11th at 5pm.
William Howard Richard Buell born 10/28/1943 in Erie, PA died 8/1/2015 in Orange City FL.His family moved to Florida in 1947. Through his youth he lived in Deland and Altamonte Springs.He attended Lyman High School in Longwood FL.For the last 15 years he has lived in Orange City FL.
He is survived by his sons Dax Buell and William H Buell, by his sisters Dawn Buell Veitch and Rebecca Buell Stewart, and by his mother Rachel Mudge Buell Veitch.He was preceded in death by his father Howard L Buell and oldest sister Prudence Buell Hunsucker. He has 4 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, and 1 great-grandchild.
He served in the Navy aboard the USS Hyman. USS Hyman joined the Cuban Missile blockadejust prior to the blockade being lifted. After leaving the Navy he lived few years in Massachusetts.
He voluntarily joined the Army and served in the 173rd Airborne Brigade. He was wounded on July 4 1966.He receive a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star w/V Device for valiant service. He honorably discharged as a disabled combat veteran.
He returned to Florida and lived in Milton before moving back to live in central Florida.
He loved to boats and fishing. He had a life long passion for cars and racing. He always had project to fix up; a boat, a motor or a car.
He raced at the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville FL for several years. He enjoyed working on his race car.
He had an avid interest in World War II history and planes.
