Ken was born on August 10, 1928, in Miami, Florida, the second child of William Henry Johnson and Zelma Saunders. He was a devoted husband to Evelyn "Jean" Saunders nearly 53 years until her death in 2005. Together they built a life of love and caring for others. He took excellent care of his parents and in-laws while they were alive. Ken was a loving and supportive father and grandfather who treasured spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ken strongly believed in providing to various charities and encouraged others to make donations to any charity that would help someone less fortunate. He loved attending his grandchildren's school and sports activities, spending time at the beach, and playing cards, particularly bridge and poker. He had a passion for understanding the Bible and always enjoyed engaging others in political discussions.
Ken graduated from Miami Senior High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech. Ken joined the Delta Tau Delta fraternity and maintained friendships through the years with several of his fraternity brothers. Ken predominantly worked in the defense industry as a mechanical engineer and retired 31 years ago from Martin Marietta.
He is survived by his three children, Michael Saunders, Daniel (Danny) Saunders, and Michele (Shelly) Belvin and her husband Jay. He has six grandchildren, Mitchell (and his wife Dinah), Zachary (and his wife Devyn), Joshua, Rebecca, Sydney, and Sophie and two great grandchildren, Addie and Wyatt.
Ken was cherished by his family and friends and memories of Ken will continue to bless all who knew him. His faith meant very much to him, and Ken is finally at home in heaven with Jean.
