Yolanda Lugo-Lugo

October 4, 1974 — March 3, 2022

I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is a crown waiting for me. It is given to those who are right with God. The Lord, who judges fairly, will give it to me on the day he returns. He will not give it only to me. He will also give it to all those who are longing for him to return. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 (NIRV)

Yolanda Raquel Lugo-Lugo of Winter Park, Florida was born in Sumter, SC, on Shaw Airforce Base, at 13:45 on October 14, 1974. She passed away on March 3, 2022, at the age of 47.

Yolanda was the first child of Xiomara & Jorge Lugo-Aviles. Yolanda loved being the daughter of a military veteran. Growing up in Europe exposed her to so many other cultures. Yolanda was never too shy to offer you a hello or a warm smile. When Jorge retired from the Military he moved the family to Winter Park, Fl. When Yolanda started high school, she was instantly loved by everyone who came into contact with her. She loved hanging out with her friends during her lunch hour especially when she got to go outside and dance with them. As a social butterfly Yolanda joined several high school clubs. She also spent her weekends with her younger sister Yahira R. & younger brother Jorge E. (Ricky) at Disney Hollywood Studios. Yolanda was selected from the audience and quickly became a featured extra on The Mickey Mouse Club show. This meant she was in music videos and even showcased as a dancer.
Yolanda loved singing and enjoyed her time in the high school choir while also being a part of her church choir. She was an avid runner and expert bowler making her high school varsity team and earning the title of state champions.

When Yolanda was 16 she and Yahira sang as part of a five girl gospel band performing at church festivals for hundreds of people at a time, including celebrities! She never got stage fright; she always felt like it was just where she needed to be. Singing her praises to God made her glow while on stage. Yolanda graduated from Winter Park High School in 1993. Yolanda was excited to begin her classes at Valencia Community College in the fall of 1994.
In the winter of 1994 Yolanda met and married her first love Jeffrey Koehn. Jeffrey was in the Navy and quickly swept Yolanda off her feet. After marrying in Dec of 1994, they were stationed in Tennessee close to Jeffrey's family. Yolanda enjoyed the beautiful mountain mornings and time with her in-laws. Less than a year later Yolanda and Jeffery welcomed a daughter Raquel Ann Lugo-Koehn on October 10/3/1995 in Goodlettsville, TN. Raquel was an instant family favorite but being the first grandchild was never easy!

Raquel and Yolanda would spend their days dancing, reading, playing and cooking. Yolanda was very proud of her ability to maintain such adult responsibilities at such a young age. She often stated God must have really loved her to give her such a great gift as a daughter. Yolanda was even able to get a job at Dollywood. She would share stories of all the country singers she got to meet and her newfound love of cowboy boots! Just like in any good country song, Yolanda's marriage ended in divorce.

Yolanda moved back to Winter Park, Fl in 2004 where she eventually had three more children Antonio Xavier (1998), Abigail Zayda (2002), and Sebastian Gabriel (2003). She decided she wanted to work at her local McDonald's and got hooked! Yolanda impressed the managers enough to get the coveted drive thru spot! She loved interacting with every customer and even knew most of them by name. She would see their cars in the drive-through and would be able to remember what their favorite order was and even call them by name. She was kind and loving to everyone who came to her window. She spent her entire life happily serving others with her career at McDonald's and will be sorely missed by her customers and second family.
Yolanda took every opportunity she could to travel with her family throughout the United States. She always made us stop at the most random places and would test everything to be sure it was safe for her siblings.

2018 was a special year for Yolanda. Yolanda's last road trip was to Tennessee where she was elated to see her daughter Raquel marry Mason Belote on 3/3/2018. She was also blessed with her first grandchild from her son Antonio Xavier & Amanda Ruvola (Daughter in law), Keanu Xavier born on 3/27/2018. Her son's family quickly grew and before she knew it, she was grandma to another 3 children, Kehlani Lynn on 8/31/2019, River Elvia on 10/18/20 and Harlee Isabella on 11/27/21.

Yolanda believed whole-heartedly in her bond with God. She believed God made her special so she could see the beauty in others. Yolanda found it was her calling to pray with her friends and neighbors. Helping others believe in the power of prayer. Several of her friends quickly became like a second family.

Yolanda was preceded in death by her grandparents Elpidio Lugo Faria, Elvia Mercedes Lugo, Iris Aviles-Aviles & Irving Lugo Faria and her uncle Irving Lugo. She is survived by her parents, Jorge Luis Lugo-Aviles & Xiomara Elena Lugo Prado. Her siblings Yahira R. Lugo-Lugo (Kory), Jorge Enrique Lugo-Lugo (Connie). Her 4 biological children Raquel Anne Koehn-Belote (Mason), Antonio Xavier Lugo-Lugo (Amanda), Abigail Zayda Lugo-Lugo and her youngest Sebastian Gabriel Lugo-Lugo. Her 4 grandchildren, all of whom she adored, Keanu Xavier, Kehlani Lynn, River Elvia, & Harlee Isabella. Yolanda's aunts & uncles, Maureen "Maruchi" Lugo, Brandon, Mississippi, Allan G. Lugo (Tina) Lugo of Longwood, Florida, Sergio Lugo (Lorri) Lugo of Star, Mississippi and Vilma Bell (Hal) Bell of Brandon, Mississippi. She has several cousins and family in Puerto Rico & Mississippi.
