Yvonne Doreen Dowie, age 79, of Orlando, Florida passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018.
Yvonne was born in Kingston, Jamaica on January 10, 1939, daughter of the late Augustus Jones and Mildred Hall. She married Lloyd Dowie and together they had three children. She worked in the Income Tax Department in Jamaica for many years before her retirement. Yvonne was an active member of St. Paul United Church in Jamaica. Afterwards, she came to the United States. Yvonne loved to sing Christian music, and was a very dedicated mother and grandmother. She was a gentle, quiet soul.
Yvonne is survived by her husband, Lloyd Dowie; two sons, Ian and Nigel Dowie; her daughter, Lisa Toomer; eight grandchildren Ian Dowie, Jr., Andre Dowie, Tiffany Dowie, Jamal Dowie, Juwon Dowie, Derone Lake, Natalia Toomer, and Michael Toomer, Jr.; and four great-grandchildren, Mikayla Dowie, Madison Dowie, Kaydence Dowie, and Bryson Dowie.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Lloyd Jones; and her sister, Veronica Jones.
Funeral Services are Friday, March 30, 2018 at 10:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home (Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - East Orlando), 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando, Florida 32822 with Shirley Strader officiating.
Visitation is Thursday, March 29, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
